![]() ![]() You can change the feel of the fork by changing the air pressure, this makes the damper harder to move there by making the fork stiffer, or making it ramp up harder. The major difference is that these use air as a pressure spring ( oil in a sealed chamber has to have somewhere to displace when the piston/damper rod pushes through it) and the big bike Showas use a coil spring. These forks use a sealed damping chamber similar to the Showa big bike forks. They can be tuned to work even better with a bit of work, and if someone who knows what they are doing tunes them then they have even more potential. The Generation 2 (latest ones from about June 06 forward) use a good shim valve and work pretty well out of the box. This made the forks very stiff, and un-responsive. The Generation 1 Fast Ace forks did not work very well, they used a very outdated and restrictive port valve design.
